ODE TO A LIFE OF PAIN
- I dreamed I was a shopping cart,
- cold and steel and mobile.
- supporting cans and bottles and great big bags of kitty litter,
- my job wasn't very noble.
- Then one day felt I the storm
- of children on my side.
- They threw me on the railroad tracks
- a train came and I died.

- upon the rail i rest my hand
- in this multicolored land
- i give my beast a gentle shove
- i roam amongst the many shelves, and
- then i fall in love
- with the grip and feel of tender shove
- as i roam the seeming endless aisle
- my roaming thoughts stretch far above
- and rest there and take their stay awhile
- i dream of discount buys and smile
- but the thought is brief and I must part
- for i must leave my loved isle
- i will never forget the metal art
- alas, i go, i must depart
- and leave my beloved shopping cart
- and leave my beloved shopping cart

The Fish
- They make me bump and bounce.
- They push me with their car.
- They load me past capcity.
- And never say their sorry.
- Nor do they rub me when I cold.
- They leave me in the rain to rust.
- I cannot retire.
- So when I cannot roll straight.
- Or my basket bent.
- Please do not delay.
- A junkyard would make my day.
- Let me sit with my pals.
- Or better yet melt me, mold me, and make me new.
- Thank you.

- saw a shopping cart
- knew that it was art
- gave it a name and a sex
- told her: oh baby, relax
- for in Germany they call you Einkaufswagen
- now doesn't that sound like something, girl?
- oh, now doesn't that sound like something?
- Think of that, girl
- if you're lonely and
- abused
